Meet Our Resident Horses

We believe every horse deserves a safe and loving home. Each of our residents has a unique story, but they’ve all made their way to Ho’omaluhia Horse Rescue en route to finding their forever homes.

If you’re interested in adopting one of our horses, please reach out at info@hoomaluhiahorserescue.org or (808) 382-6162!

Raven, a beautiful dark-coated horse, stands in the field with the mountains of Waialua in the background

Raven

At 17 years old, Raven is one of our youngest horses. He has injuries from being entangled in a fence that cause his fetlock to touch the ground and make him unrideable. He was nearly put down because nobody wanted a lame horse, but Raven still has a long life ahead of him!
Indy, a mini horse with white coat and tail, at Ho'omaluhia Horse Rescue, Wailalua, Hawaii

Indy

Chyna and Indy were surrendered to West Coast Minis because their owner suffered losses during one of the west coast fires. She couldn’t afford to keep them, but wanted to make sure they went to a good home and not auction. They came to us via adoption from West Coast Minis.
Marley, a white horse with light pink nose, stands at the edge of a paddock fence at Ho'omaluhia Horse Rescue

Marley

Marley is around 22 years old and she was adopted by our founders several years ago. When she first arrived in our care, she was severely malnourished and sunburnt to the point of hair loss. Her tail was almost gone due to the poisonous haole koa plants she was snacking on.
Marbea, a pretty chestnut horse with white face markings, stands in front of the mountains on the North Shore of Oahu

Marbella

Marbella and Delphina are 32 years old, according to vet records! They came to us because of their special feeding needs and health problems; they could not survive on pasture grass alone due to their advanced age.

Youka, a dark-coated horse with white facial markings, stands by a tree at Ho'omaluhia Horse Rescue

Youka

Youka is well-known in the community, as she used to be an amazing polo horse! After Youka was in her 20s with arthritis, her owner surrendered her to a rescue (which is now closed) because her daughter moved away and she did want to care for her, plus Youka was not sellable due to her condition.
Delfina, an elderly chestnut horse, at Ho'omaluhia Horse Rescue, Waialua, Hawaii

Delphina

Marbella and Delphina are 32 years old, according to vet records! They came to us because of their special feeding needs and health problems; they could not survive on pasture grass alone due to their advanced age.
Sparkles, a white horse with light spots all over her coat, stands by a tree at Ho'omaluhia Horse Rescue on the North Shore

Sparkles

Sparkles came from an equine-assisted therapy program, helping people overcome a variety of issues through interaction with patient and gentle horses. When the program ended, Sparkles’s owner could no longer afford to keep her because of her health issues, which include Cushing’s disease and vision problems.
